Plot R15 is part of the development of 530 homes for affordable rent, one of the largest developments of its kind in Spain.

The registration period to apply for a home will open on 8 June and will remain open until the 26th.

Lagoom Living continues to advance the development of Distrito Universidad with the opening of the allocation process for plot R15, a development comprising 91 general-regime homes for affordable rent, which reinforces the project's position as a national benchmark in public-private collaboration to facilitate access to housing.

Following the launch last March of the project's first phase, corresponding to plot R3, which exceeded 7,000 registered applications, Lagoom Living continues to drive the development of Distrito Universidad, a global project comprising a total of 530 homes for affordable rent in Malaga and which has established itself as one of the largest residential developments of protected rental housing in Andalusia.

The new development consists of two residential blocks of ground floor plus five storeys and comprises 91 two-bedroom homes, five of which will be adapted for people with reduced mobility. Each home will also have an associated parking space and storage room.

With an approximate usable floor area of 70 square metres, the homes have been designed under a modern, efficient residential model conceived to enhance the quality of life of future tenants. The complex features a swimming pool, landscaped areas, children's playgrounds and an outdoor gym, in addition to seven commercial units and 46 additional parking spaces. The expected rents for the homes, together with parking space and storage room, range between 508 and 512 euros per month.

An affordable housing model with a city-building vocation

Distrito Universidad has established itself as one of the most ambitious protected rental housing projects in the country and an example of urban transformation linked to sustainability, innovation and access to housing. It has also been conceived under high standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, with an A energy rating and BREEAM certification, thus reinforcing Lagoom Living's commitment to a more efficient and responsible residential model.

This project is part of a public-private collaboration model, developed jointly by the Government of Spain, the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Malaga City Council. The development, with Next Generation funds from the European Union, is financed by the Official Credit Institute (ICO) through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.

With the launch of plot R15, Lagoom Living continues to accelerate the development of the sector and to address one of the city's main social needs: facilitating access to affordable housing for Malaga families and young people.

Allocation process

The allocation process for the homes will be carried out in coordination with the Municipal Housing Institute (IMV), which will be responsible for managing registrations, drawing up the lists, the lottery-based selection system and the appeals period.

Key dates of the process:

29 May: publication of the announcement in the Official Provincial Gazette (BOP).

1 June: publication of the terms and documentation on the IMV and Lagoom Living websites.

8 June: official opening of the registration period.

26 June: closing of the application period.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must have submitted their registration application to the Malaga Municipal Register of Applicants for Protected Housing and prove at least one year of registered residence in the municipality of Malaga. They must also meet the financial requirements established for the development, including a maximum income limit of 2.5 times the IPREM, a minimum income of 23,500 euros per year and a maximum effort rate of 30%.

In addition, they may not own another home and must use the allocated home as their habitual and permanent residence. These are some of the requirements; however, all information relating to the process will be available on the Lagoom Living website (www.lagoomliving.es) from 1 June.
