Lagoom Living gets ahead of the planned schedule and opens the call for 62 affordable rental homes in 'Distrito Universidad' in Malaga

Plot R3 is now a reality, allowing Malaga residents to access 62 affordable rental homes immediately

Lagoom Living, a benchmark in the affordable rental housing sector through public-private collaboration in Spain, marks a milestone in housing management in Malaga by announcing the opening of the allocation process for the first 62 homes of Plot R3 in Distrito Universidad. While the complete development of the sector (530 homes) has its completion horizon in June 2026, Lagoom Living has managed to get ahead of the planned schedule in this first phase, making these units available to citizens immediately.

A successful model of institutional collaboration

Distrito Universidad is a pioneering project resulting from the collaboration between the Government of Spain, the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Malaga City Council. The development is financed with Next Generation funds from the European Union and has the support of the Official Credit Institute (ICO) through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. This joint effort provides Malaga with 530 officially protected homes for affordable rent, establishing itself as an innovative model of urban development that combines sustainability, accessibility and social commitment.

Distrito Universidad is one of the most ambitious protected rental housing developments in Spain and the project with which Malaga places itself at the forefront of sustainable urban transformation.

Plot R3, now being delivered, is one of the key pieces of the development. It consists of 62 homes: 19 one-bedroom homes, 9 three-bedroom homes and 34 four-bedroom homes, with a rental price starting from 500 euros/month.

The development has been conceived with a clear residential and family vocation, opting for spacious, bright and functional spaces, as well as careful planning of the communal areas, designed to foster coexistence and the well-being of residents.

Among its main features are the shared communal areas, landscaped areas and swimming pool, which reinforce the community character of the project and raise the quality of life of a protected housing development that goes far beyond the traditional concept of subsidised housing.

Registration process: key dates

To ensure transparent allocation, the allocation process for these homes will be carried out digitally on a strict first-come, first-served basis:

9 March: the website HTTPS://LAGOOMLIVING.ES/VIVIENDAS-LAGOOM will be enabled so that interested parties can consult all the documentation, terms and requirements for Plot R3.

16 March (00:00): the online registration form to apply for one of the 62 available homes will officially open. The period will remain open until 30 March at 11:59 p.m.

Requirements for applicants

Candidates must be registered in the Malaga Municipal Register of Protected Housing and prove at least one year of registered residence in the municipality. They may not own another home, and the allocated home must be used as their habitual and permanent residence. In addition, income limits are set (a maximum of 5.5 times the IPREM) and an effort rate that may not exceed 30% of the household's income.
