At Lagoom Living we are taking a new step to complete Distrito Universidad with the opening of the allocation process for plot R11, a development of 175 new homes for affordable rent that brings to 377 the number of homes currently in the allocation process within this major residential development.

With this launch we complete Distrito Universidad, a 530-home project that has established itself as Spain's first VPO smart city for affordable rental housing and one of the leading examples of public-private collaboration to improve access to housing.

A development designed with people in mind

Plot R11 comprises 175 homes with 2 and 3 bedrooms, spread across four residential buildings, with a swimming pool, children's areas, an outdoor gym, coworking spaces, garage and storage room.

Expected rents range from €496 to €625 per month, including the home, garage and storage room.

Allocation process

The process will be run in coordination with the Instituto Municipal de la Vivienda (IMV), which will manage registrations, the publication of lists, the appeals period and the draw-based selection system.

The registration period will remain open from 13 to 31 July. People who applied in previous phases of Distrito Universidad and were not awarded a home may take part.

A benchmark project in affordable housing

Distrito Universidad has established itself as one of the country's most ambitious protected rental housing projects. Designed to high standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, it holds an A energy rating and BREEAM certification.

The project is being developed through a public-private collaboration model between the Government of Spain, the Regional Government of Andalusia and Málaga City Council. The development, financed by the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, is backed by European Union Next Generation funds.

An alliance with IKEA to make moving into a new home easier

Future tenants will also be able to benefit from the collaboration between IKEA Málaga and Lagoom Living, giving them access to exclusive offers to furnish and equip their new home on preferential terms.
