The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, visited Distrito Universidad construction site, accompanied by the Vice President, María Jesús Montero, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez. Also in attendance were the Regional Minister of Public Works, Territorial Coordination, and Housing of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Rocío Diaz Jiménez; and the Mayor of Málaga City Council, Francisco de la Torre Prados, among other authorities.
The regional minister and co-founder of Lagoom Living, Filip Gil, welcomed the delegation to plot R11, where he presented the project and its importance as a national benchmark in affordable housing, innovation, and sustainability.
Distrito Universidad includes the construction of 530 affordable public housing units. Thanks to the industrialization of the construction processes, the project is progressing ahead of schedule, with completion scheduled for early 2026.
With a completion rate exceeding 55%, the project is moving forward with the support of the European Union’s Next Generation Funds through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, as well as financing from the ICO – Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) through funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), reinforcing its strategic nature and its fair, responsible, and inclusive housing model.
Distrito Universidad is consolidating its position as an innovative project that combines sustainability, industrialization, and social commitment, providing a response to the current challenge of access to housing.
